DURHAM – A new investment forum that will feature as many as 20 startups with ties to universities across the country is being added to the Council for Entrepreneurial Development’s Life Science Conference in Raleigh next February.

Coming to the Triangle for the first time is the Coulter Investment Forum, which will be put on by the Wallace H. Coulter Foundation and Duke University.

The Wallace H. Coulter Foundation was funded in 1998 with the mission of “serving humanity by improving healthcare.”

The Raleigh event will be the fourth Coulter Investor Forum.  Last year it took place at the University of Michigan in conjunction with the Michigan Growth Capital Symposium.

Duke and other universities will spotlight startups developing medical devices, diagnostics, therapeutics and imaging.

“We are thrilled to work with Duke University and the Coulter Foundation to bring this unique event to the Triangle for the first time ever alongside our signature conference,” said Ravila Gupta, CEO of CED, in the announcement. “This partnership allows even more emerging life science companies to be showcased and expands exposure for N.C.. entrepreneurs to additional out-of-state investors and industry leaders.”

The CED event also will showcase an additional 25 or more companies. Another 50 startups will be selected to participate in the conference “Innovation Room” demo hall.

Participating companies will be announced in January.

The conference, which is presented in partnership with the North Carolina Biotechnology Center and the North Carolina Biosciences Organization, is set for Feb. 27-28 in Raleigh.
