NC IDEA SOAR

Securing funding outside of the major entrepreneurial hubs is challenging for all founders, but more acute for women. Data shows that while women founders launch 20% of startups, they receive only 3% of total venture funding and 9% of total seed funding. NC IDEA SOAR is designed to help female entrepreneurs raising capital overcome the obstacles contributing to the gender-specific funding disparity.

NC IDEA SOAR launched in 2014 as SoarTriangle as a part of Google’s #40Forward initiative, a program designed to increase the representation of women within their startup communities. NC IDEA SOAR became an official program of the Foundation in August 2016. Since the program’s inception, the 17 female-led NC IDEA SOAR companies have collectively raised over $8 million in both equity and non-dilutive funding and have generated over 65 jobs.
