Seniors In Transition – MICRO Fall 2022
Published May 10, 2023
As part of our ‘Meet Our Founders’ series today, we introduce Penny Campbell, Founder and CEO of Seniors In Transition based in Charlotte, NC. Seniors In Transition is an easy-to-use mobile application that bridges the communication gap between long term care facilities nurses and residents’ families.
Q: What problem are you trying to solve and what influenced you to start your company?
A: At the age of 26, my father was diagnosed with dementia. During his 4-year battle, he was in several assisted living facilities. I would receive inconsistent information or information at the last minute about essential items that my father needed. As a remote caregiver, I knew that I was not the only one with this challenge and figured that there had to be a more efficient way for staff to communicate with the residents’ families.
Q: How will your NC IDEA grant funds advance your company?
A: The grants funds will allow us to modify our current MVP based on the feedback that we have received. It will also allow us to move the website to HIPAA complaint servers to keep data secure.
Q: What have you enjoyed most about starting your own company?
A: During my entrepreneurial journey, I have enjoyed meeting new people and learning about new innovative technology within the health tech industry.
