As part of our ‘Meet Our Founders’ series today, we introduce Trevor Ferree, CEO of TSV Analytics based in Hendersonville, NC. TSV Analytics is the first prescriptive social media analytics tool designed to help social media managers create more effective content for their audience.
Q: What problem are you trying to solve and what influenced you to start your company?
A: TSV Analytics actually began as an undergraduate research project at NC State in late 2018. Working with the American Coatings Association, we developed a process to prevent the next BPA baby bottle craze that happened in 2010 using social media signals. We built this solution, which is the TSV process: Topic, Sentiment, and Virality Analytics.
During the last few years of working on undergraduate research, we realized and many people mentioned to us that “chemicals aren’t the only thing discussed on social media”. We could apply this same TSV analytical process to any specific social media conversation. Now we’re on a mission to help social media content creators to produce the most engaging content for their audience using data and analytics.
Q: What have you enjoyed most about starting your own company?
A: The thing I have enjoyed most about starting TSV Analytics is the ability to be nimble. Having left a massive corporation, I always felt as though things were not moving as fast as they could. Now having more control of direction and what to focus on, the ability to quickly iterate and test has been so freeing.
Q: What is your favorite productivity app?
A: My favorite productivity app is my Google Calendar! I live through my calendar, if something is not on it, it will not happen. It’s the perfect way for me to stay on track with the big-picture items that need to be addressed in between the small tasks that pop up daily. Having a schedule and sticking to it increases my productivity so so much.
