Summer is officially upon us and things are certainly not slowing down at NC IDEA any time soon! Just in the last month, we have awarded close to half a million dollars in grants announcing 15 NC IDEA MICRO grant recipients and another 6 companies receiving our long-standing $50K NC IDEA SEED grant. We currently have 10 companies participating in our second 2019 cohort of NC IDEA LABS, and are in the process of evaluating applications for another group of young, budding companies to join us for four weeks this July.

It won’t be long before we’re announcing the dates and deadlines for our Fall cycle of NC IDEA MICRO and NC IDEA SEED (expect to hear from us later this summer). But in the meantime, we hope you’ll take a break from lounging poolside and attend one or more of the events in our Summer Series or become an NC IDEA trained facilitator of the Ice House Entrepreneurship Program this August. More details on both opportunities below.

Jump right in; the water’s fine!

NC IDEA 2019 Summer Series

NC IDEA’s 2019 Summer Series is a 9-week series of programs open to early stage and aspiring entrepreneurs designed to equip individuals with the tools and resources needed to build, launch and scale a successful business. Topics vary across all aspects of your business and will pull together some of the brightest minds in the region to share their expertise in their domain. There will also be time for networking among like-minded peers.

All of the sessions will take place in the NC IDEA LABS space on the American Tobacco Campus. Sessions will also be recorded and posted online afterwards for viewing and sharing. These sessions are for entrepreneurs only, no service providers please. Pizza will be served. Registration is required. Become a Trained Ice House Facilitator
Join Our Third Cohort This August – Apply by July 1st

NC IDEA has an ambitious goal to educate 100,000 North Carolinians with an entrepreneurial mindset. Hear more from Thom Ruhe, NC IDEA President & CEO. We are seeking education partners who want to help us empower as many people as possible by offering the Ice House Entrepreneurship Program (IHEP). NC IDEA is hosting a three-day Ice House Facilitator Training for education partners interested in offering the course to their constituents. To date, NC IDEA has trained over 100 facilitators who are now beginning to offer this entrepreneurial mindset curriculum to their constituents.

Ice House Facilitator Training
August 6-8, 2019
Barton College
Wilson, NC

Education partners will likely be entrepreneurially-minded organizations drawn from educational institutions (particularly community colleges), entrepreneurial support organizations, economic development organizations, CDFIs or government entities. Organizations with demonstrable intent and capacity to offer the program to individuals broadly, will be given priority consideration.

Because seating is limited, we will be admitting facilitators through an application process. NC IDEA will pay the training costs and participants will only have travel-related expenses. The deadline to apply is July 1st.
