Today, we introduce Calvin Williams, founder of Freeman Capital in Charlotte, NC. Freeman Capital provides a step by step action plan to increase your net worth each month for the price of a cell phone plan.
Q: Calvin, what problem are you trying to solve and what influenced you to start your company?
A: In my 20s, I thought I was doing well financially until I went to find a wealth manager. When I was told I didn’t meet the minimum wealth criteria, I realized that the wealth management industry is not focused on wealth building and not focused on people like me.
To close the wealth gap, we have to help our country build wealth and that is what Freeman Capital is doing.
Q: How will your NC IDEA grant funds advance your company?
A: NC IDEA is providing amazing support and these funds will directly help us reach and help more people. As a result of these funds, we anticipate being able to help thousands more people build wealth, decrease their money worries and help more families live a better life.
Q: What is one thing you wish you understood about entrepreneurship before you ever got started?
A: The one thing I wish I understood before is just because entrepreneurship can be lonely, doesn’t mean it has to be.
There is so much focus on doing this alone or by yourself. But you can’t.
I wish I knew the importance of finding my community and building a team that I can rely on sooner. Now, that I have a community and a team that I can rely on, I look back and I would have shared more of the emotional burden with my team, family and friends.
