As part of our ‘Meet Our Founders’ series today, we introduce David Reeser, CEO of OpiAID based in Wilmington, NC. OpiAID is a data science company making addiction treatment safer and more effective.

Q: When did you know you wanted to take an entrepreneurial path?

A: I did not know I wanted to be an entrepreneur until I was in my mid 30’s. A friend suggested that I should start something of my own and that gave me the boost of confidence to try. It’s pretty amazing how far a word of encouragement can go at the right time.

Q: What have you enjoyed most about starting your own company?

A: Building a team that shares my passion for excellence and compassion has been the most enjoyable part of starting OpiAID. I also really love being able to sleep in without worrying what my boss might think!

While visiting Wilmington, David recommends:

• Wilmington is an amazing city to visit! I would suggest a trip to Wrightsville Beach, Airlie Gardens and the Riverwalk for recreation. Bluewater is great place to end a great day at the beach to watch the sunset and have a nice meal.
