Today, we introduce Desmond Wiggan, founder of BatteryXChange in Charlotte, NC. BatteryXchange is a sharing economy platform providing device charging on the go that enables business intelligence tools for partnering locations.
Q: Desmond, what problem are you trying to solve and what influenced you to start your company?
A: Our company realized the charging industry was due for disruption from the old mundane, inconvenient & untethered way of charging devices. From experiencing a dead battery during studies in China that hindered getting home, we wanted to provide a solution that allowed people to leave home and feel comfortable in charging on the go without worry. We also saw that other solutions were like old ATM machines that could not collect much data from captive audiences, so we decided to enable that as well.
Q: What are you most excited about right now? What keeps you up at night?
A: I’ve been blessed to be able to build a phenomenal & extremely skilled team. Seeing them believe in what we’re building makes me most excited because it’s one thing to believe for yourself as an entrepreneur, but others share that passion and commitment is a very warm feeling.
Q: What have you enjoyed most about starting your own company?
A: I have really enjoyed overcoming some of my greatest adversities & trials. It’s one thing to hear no, or not get opportunities you really want. Those times have helped to really motivate me, and challenge me to find new ways to reach our goals and milestones. It’s always hard going through the process of growth but when you get on the other side it’s a remarkable feeling. I’ve felt that feeling through building a team, successfully raising capital, and continuing to pivot and iterate our business.
