As part of our ‘Meet Our Founders’ series today, we introduce James Chemplavil, Founder and CEO of Salus based in Charlotte, NC. Salus is an underwriting platform to help credit unions and banks better reach their under-served customers.
Q: What problem are you trying to solve and what influenced you to start your company?
A: Millions of people lack access to emergency credit and struggle with financial shocks because their primary financial institutions don’t have the tools to offer them a solution. Salus is building the platform that solves this problem, giving these borrowers financial stability today, and a path for financial success in the future.
Q: What is your favorite local business to support?
A: Two Scoops Creamery. Fantastic ice cream and great people. It’s a weekly family stop in the summertime.
Q: What is your favorite productivity app?
A: Slack. Can’t beat the functionality for connecting with other businesses in real-time.
