Just Her Rideshare – MICRO Fall 2022

Published March 8, 2023

As part of our ‘Meet Our Founders’ series today, we introduce Kimberly Evans, Founder and CEO of Just Her Rideshare based in Charlotte, NC. Just Her Rideshare is a rideshare community of women drivers and riders, providing a safe, stress-free alternative rideshare experience all while building community with them.

Q: What problem are you trying to solve and what influenced you to start your company?

A: Safety has become a huge issue for women in the rideshare industry. I was inspired by multiple reasons, from my own personal concerns having lost a friend years ago to a violent murder. It left me feeling vulnerable and hesitant to use these services. But the one thing that hit my core and made me push ahead was Samantha Josephson’s story. A USC Columbia student, hopped in what she thought was her Uber, was abducted and brutally murdered. I knew that I wanted to find a way to offer a safe place for women like myself in this industry.

Q: What are you most excited about right now? What keeps you up at night?

A: The fact that we just launched our MVP Mobile App! We have had so much traction and it is exciting because I started this journey as a non-technical founder and now I have the tools and the experience to build any tech company. The thing that keeps me up at night is fundraising. Having enough capital to keep going and keep my team working, when typically the odds are stacked against people like me.

Q: What have you enjoyed most about starting your own company?

A: Building something great that my sons can be proud of has been the joy of this journey. Be creative and have thought partners, which include my team, my network of people that have stepped in and offered resources, advice and real tangibles to help us move forward.

Q: What other passions do you have besides your business?

A: Community engagement. I have a servant’s heart and I love to volunteer and serve my community.

While visiting the Charlotte, Kimberly recommends:

  • If you are a sports fan, I would suggest catching a baseball game at the Knights Stadium or Top Golf. If you love the arts, there are amazing Galleries to take in and if you love fine dining, I would suggest Eddie V’s Prime & Seafood. It’s one of my favorites!
