As part of our ‘Meet Our Founders’ series today, we introduce Rachel Cash, Founder and CEO of Elroi based in Durham, NC. Elroi is a data marketplace that allows consumer to exchange their data with companies fostering digital equity and economic participation.
Q: What are you most excited about right now? What keeps you up at night?
A: The changes in the data ecosystem are what I am most excited about. As we move to Web 3.0 and a more interconnecting world, there is so much innovation happing. What keeps me up at night is thinking about if the next iteration of technology will be used to enable a more equitable world.
Q: How will your NC IDEA grant funds advance your company?
A: Receiving the NC IDEA grant gave us the boost that we needed; not only the funding but also access to the network and partnerships. The startup journey is a hard road and the funds have advanced our morale having a group of individuals saying yes and helping us validate our vision.
Q: What have you enjoyed most about starting your own company?
A: I have always been an avid learner, and love to solve problems. Stepping out and trying to develop and bring a hardware/software product to market has definitely provided me with that experience in spades.

- If you are coming to Durham, I suggest you take some time enjoying downtown Durham. There are so many cool bars, restaurants, and stores that are unique and have a powerful history. If I was going to recommend food, I enjoy the Blue Note Grill and some blues music as well.
