As part of our ‘Meet Our Founders’ series today, we introduce Shafna Shamsuddin, Founder and CEO of Elaka Treats based in Greensboro, NC. Elaka Treats sells stories and smiles through its all-natural cardamom infused frozen desserts representing regional cultural flavors from around the world.
Q: What have you enjoyed most about starting your own company?
A: I’m a problem solver, and this has been an endless problem solving ride starting from the get-go.
Q: Who has been the biggest influence on your life?
A: My entrepreneurial journey is heavily influenced by my father and his legacy, who built something from scratch, ground up, and left us with more comfort and opportunity than what he had, but also with the strength and passion to face any hardships.
Q: What other passions do you have besides your business?
A: Besides my business, my biggest passion that comes before my business, is my son. Motherhood taught me more lessons than books, which is my other biggest passion. It taught me, eventually we all turn into our parents, at some point. lol

- Downtown Greensboro is a short strip-walk packed with significant history to impact dreamers from all walks of life, on how everything starts from ideation and passion, before you make a difference that resonates around the world. Greensboro is a big suburban small town with a global reach, to their own dismay. If in town, visit The Civil Rights Museum in downtown, as the building itself is an integral part of Greensboro’s and this Nation’s modern history, walk down the strip, have lunch or dinner at one of many fabulous choices in town, and the day by grabbing a book, a warm cup of coffee/tea and some Elaka Treats at Scuppernong Books. That’s my kind of perfect outing in Downtown Greensboro.
