iEDAPTS- MICRO Fall 2021

Published March 9, 2022

Today, we introduce Shanda Knox, cofounder of iEDAPTS in Charlotte, NC. iEDAPTS is a minority woman-owned educational enhancement service provider that offers math-aided GAP assessment e-Learning tools; driven by artificial intelligence (AI) differential learning styles.

Q: Shanda, what problem are you trying to solve and what influenced you to start your company?

A: Our solutions came from our son having a problem with math in the 8th grade. It was a struggle between him and us. We spoke different languages with the new methods they were instructing him. Having two parents at least will be able to share the load.  We could not imagine what other parents were going through, especially single-mother households. We felt there had to be a better way, and we noticed our son loved music. So we thought of Schoolhouse Rock and how it influenced us. That is how iEDAPTS’ was created.

Q: What are you most excited about right now? What keeps you up at night?

A: For a mentor, to become invested in the concept and idea that understands the importance of cultural content for students of color to engage them. Someone willing to be patient enough to take us by the hand and direct us to the right path to success.

Q: Who do you look to for advice and mentorship?

A: We mostly enjoy the smiles and excitement we see on the kid’s faces when they see our concepts and style for the first time.
