Project Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) Program

NC IDEA is supporting the recruitment of multiple part-time contract EIR roles through its partnership with NCInnovation.

NCInnovation (NCI) supports a network of Project EIRs working with its grant-funded projects under the supervision of each project’s Principal Investigator. The EIR role is a part-time contract housed as a part of the grant budget at the awarded university. NCInnovation has partnered with NC IDEA and RIoT to provide support and coordination to the statewide network of Entrepreneurs in Residence (EIRs). NC IDEA will lead recruitment efforts in coordination with NCI and each project team.

NCInnovation has approved funding for $13.6 million in R&D funding for 17 research projects at 12 North Carolina public universities. Each project will contract with an EIR to support commercialization activities funded by the grant. The R&D grants will support applied research that has already achieved proof of concept in areas from agriculture technology to Alzheimer’s treatment. For a list of the 17 funded projects, visit here.
