Majentics – MICRO Fall 2025
Published January 14, 2026
As part of our ‘Meet Our Founders’ series today, we introduce Dirk Nicol, Founder of Majentics based in Durham, NC. Majentics gives businesses peace of mind—monitoring and improving how their brand is seen, cited, and represented by AI.
Q: What problem are you trying to solve and what influenced you to start your company?
A:The web is changing faster than most businesses realize. As customers turn to AI engines like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity for answers, traditional search traffic is falling, and many brands are losing visibility in the process. Soon, AI agents will be shopping, comparing, and recommending on behalf of customers, deciding which brands make the cut. Majentics helps businesses understand how they’re represented in these new AI ecosystems, providing clear, actionable insights and peace of mind in the AI era.
Q: What are you most excited about right now? What keeps you up at night?
A: I’m excited about creating a category that didn’t exist a year ago: AI visibility and agent readiness. Majentics is at the intersection of marketing, analytics, and AI, helping companies prepare for the next evolution of brand discovery. What keeps me up at night is the pace of change. Every update from Google, OpenAI, or Anthropic can reshape how brands appear online. Staying ahead means constant innovation, but it’s also what makes this work so energizing.
Q: When did you know you wanted to take an entrepreneurial path?
A: I’ve always been drawn to building things that don’t exist yet. Even in my corporate roles, I was the one pushing for new products, emerging technologies, and new ways of thinking. I’ve always loved exploring what’s next and finding practical ways to turn innovation into impact. The moment I realized AI would fundamentally change how people find information, make decisions, and work, I knew it was time to step out and build something of my own. Majentics grew from that instinct—to help businesses adapt to change rather than be left behind by it.
Q: What other passions do you have besides your business?
A: Outside of startups, I’m a beekeeper, and I’ve learned a lot about patience, systems, and balance from working with bees. Beekeeping is a perfect metaphor for building a company: you need structure, attention, and adaptability to keep the hive thriving. There’s also plenty of opportunity for things to go wrong, but each setback teaches you how to adjust and learn. I also enjoy hiking, reading, and gardening. Those quiet moments spent outdoors often lead to my best ideas.
