Kahmino – MICRO Spring 2024
Published April 9, 2025
As part of our ‘Meet Our Founders’ series today, we introduce Taylor Casey, Founder & CEO of Kahmino based in Cary, NC. Moving made easy—Kahmino uses AI-driven insights to match people with neighborhoods that fit their lifestyle, removing the guesswork and bringing confidence to one of life’s bigger decisions.
Q: What problem are you trying to solve and what influenced you to start your company?
A: Kahmino was founded to solve a fundamental challenge in the relocation process—finding not just a house, but a neighborhood that truly feels like home. Too often, people move without fully understanding the communities they’re choosing, relying on guesswork, drive-bys, or endless online searches with little real insight into the lifestyle and overall vibe. Kahmino removes that uncertainty, using AI-driven intelligence to match people with neighborhoods that fit their lifestyle, values, and daily routines.
The inspiration for Kahmino began on El Camino de Santiago, a 500-mile pilgrimage across Spain whose name translates to “The Way.” While walking the trail, founder Taylor Casey met people from all over the world, all searching for something deeper—a place where they felt they belonged. That journey reinforced the idea that home is more than a location; it’s about connection and community.
With a background in product and technology leadership, Taylor launched Kahmino to bring clarity to the relocation process, making it easier for individuals and families to confidently choose neighborhoods where they can thrive. By cutting through the noise and providing data-driven community insights, Kahmino is transforming the way people find their place—so they can focus on building their lives, not just settling into a new address.
Q: What are you most excited about right now? What keeps you up at night?
A: Excited: What’s most exciting right now is the overwhelming confirmation of value from homebuyers of all types—whether they’re relocating within North Carolina, moving from out of state, or at different life stages, from recent college grads to retirees. Seeing such a wide range of people benefit from a personalized, community-first home search validates Kahmino’s mission in a big way. Real estate agents are also seeing the impact, with higher buyer agency conversion and stronger close rates. It’s incredible to watch Kahmino bridge the gap between buyers and the neighborhoods where they truly belong.
Up at night: Scale. We’re thrilled to be expanding to Charlotte at the end of Q1, but we’re constantly pushing to expand into more metro areas, faster. The demand is there, and we know Kahmino can make a real difference in how people relocate—but balancing rapid growth while maintaining a seamless, high-quality experience is the challenge that drives us every day.
Q: What does the road ahead look like for your company?
A: The road ahead is all about growth and impact. We’re gearing up to launch in Charlotte at the end of Q1, bringing Kahmino’s personalized neighborhood-matching experience to one of North Carolina’s largest metro areas. But we’re not stopping there—our focus is on expanding into more cities faster, helping even more people relocate with confidence.
As we scale, we’re also refining our AI-driven insights to make neighborhood recommendations even smarter and more personalized. We’re deepening our partnerships with real estate professionals, relocation services, and community organizations to ensure that Kahmino not only helps people find where they belong but also makes integrating into their new community seamless.
The ultimate vision? To make Kahmino the go-to resource for anyone relocating or looking to deepen their roots in their community—eliminating the stress, guesswork, and uncertainty of finding the perfect place to call home.
Q: When did you know you wanted to take an entrepreneurial path?
A: Entrepreneurship wasn’t always the plan. In college, I was an accounting major, drawn to structure and predictability—pretty much the opposite of startups. But along the way, I had some incredible mentors who helped me see new possibilities and pushed me to think bigger.
I’ve always been driven by helping people and solving problems, but the real shift happened when I worked for a startup and got to build something from the ground up. The challenge, the creativity, the impact—it just clicked.
As a former college athlete, I thrive in a team environment and am always looking to recreate that sense of camaraderie. I’ve found the startup world to be incredibly similar—the feeling of building alongside others, stepping up to the race line together, and sharing a common purpose is one of my favorite things about entrepreneurship. It’s not just about what you create; it’s about who you build it with.
Now, I’m always looking for opportunities to push boundaries, take on new challenges, and build things that truly make a difference.
