As part of our ‘Meet Our Founders’ series today, we introduce Chance Smith, COO and Co-Founder of GoghNow based in Harrisburg, NC. GoghNow is a peer-to-peer marketplace for booking in-person, on-demand musicians for everyday casual occasions.

Q: What are you most excited about right now? What keeps you up at night?

A: Something new happens everyday when building a company and the opportunity ahead gives me daily excitement. The same thing that wakes me up is the same thing that keeps me up at night because there are billions of people in the world so this work will give us the opportunity to enhance the quality of life for so many. I am most excited to see how positively communities are impacted.

Q: Who do you look to for advice and mentorship?

A: Gems are found in many shapes, forms, and sizes. Advice and mentorship can be accepted from many different people. I have really utilized my network for advice and mentorship along the journey. This has come from people who have successfully and unsuccessfully launched companies. Also, life lessons from people older and younger than me. The information is out there to get you where you want to be, you just have to be ready to receive it.

While visiting the Charlotte area, Chance recommends:

• I would point someone in the direction of exploring what the center of the city has to offer in terms of day time activities that include, exploring the exhibits at the Harvey B. Gantt Center and the Mint Museum. In the evening hours, I would recommend having a nice dinner uptown at one of the rooftops to get a view of the city and finishing with a performance at the Charlotte Symphony.
