Loom3D – MICRO Spring 2024

Published June 12, 2024

As part of our ‘Meet Our Founders’ series today, we introduce Jeanine Fry, CEO and Founder of Loom3D based in Raleigh, NC. Loom3D provides seamless weaving for apparel production.

Q: What problem are you trying to solve and what influenced you to start your company?

A:Working in the apparel industry gave me first-hand knowledge of its wastefulness. The industry is the third largest global polluter after agriculture and fossil fuels. 25% of fabric is wasted in the apparel production process, and 30% of apparel made is never sold. Our process at LOOM3D helps alleviate both of those sources of waste.

Q: How will your NC IDEA grant funds advance your company?

A: The NC IDEA grant funds are helping us develop our first production line of seamless woven denim jeans. This includes traveling to a textile trade show in NYC to connect with global manufacturers. It will also help fund the materials and manufacturing.

Q: What other passions do you have besides your business?

A: I love traveling! Seeing new sites, experiencing new cultures, and meeting new people is so rejuvenating. Every adventure gives you a new perspective to bring home.
