As part of our ‘Meet Our Founders’ series today, we introduce Mavis Gragg, CEO of HeirShares based in Durham, NC. HeirShares provides education and tech-driven solutions to families and service providers for family owned real estate.
Q: What problem are you trying to solve and what influenced you to start your company?
A: We are seeking to make it easier and more affordable for families to maintain real estate as an intergenerational asset through technology. I needed tools like HeirShares is building when I worked with these families to resolve legal issues.
Q: When did you know you wanted to take an entrepreneurial path?
A: I knew I wanted to take an entrepreneurial path when I discovered that it was the only way I could truly do the work that I care most about with the people I care most about.
While visiting Durham, Mavis recommends:
- Everyone visiting Durham should take a hike at Horton Grove Nature Preserve or swim at Campus Hills pool. Also, have brunch at Mescalito’s and take in some art at Pop Box Gallery.
