As part of our ‘Meet Our Founders’ series today, we introduce Sam Drew, President and CEO of Vetletics based in Cary, NC. Vetletics has developed the world’s first dynamic compression system for horses, scientifically proven to speed up lymphatic drainage, the EQ Press.
Q: What are you most excited about right now? What keeps you up at night?
A: Right now I’m most excited about our co-founder, Irina Perdew, coming on board full time and taking our sales efforts to the next level. Keeping me up at night is the risk of rapid growth stretching our resources beyond their limit. It’s hard to pass up opportunities!
Q: What does the road ahead look like for your company?
A: Right now, we’re raising $1.5M which will allow us to execute on our growth plan. This will see a sales force in key geographies of the US and targeted research projects kicked off.
Q: When did you know you wanted to take an entrepreneurial path?
A: I examined the work I was doing by choice – not in my job description – and it was all about making the company more profitable. As I led my first startup, I realized that the ability to build a culture drove me as well.
Q: Who do you look to for advice and mentorship?
A: People who’ve both succeeded and failed and are willing to establish a long term relationship. I have a number of people I have weathered some storms with and they are typically my first call.
